NEWS: 20/9/2010 - 26/9/2010

NEWS: 30/8/2010 --> 5/9/2010

Yo...Happy Merdeka...I think most of u busy dealing with assignments and mid term exams. Sincerely, you can tell me if you got problem. I always put academic as first place. A lot of things happened on the last week. As usual, I will post all the updates here.

Tamu Gadang
I'm so glad that I have a meeting with tamu gadang. They all give a helpful hand on the competition. These will be their contribution on our competition:
1. Place & PA system
2. Trophy
3. Budget
4. Publicity

I hope to have great deal with them. By the time, I always keep contact with them about the latest news.
As we cooperate with Tamu Gadang, our competition has to be postponed to 9 - 10 October 2010 and the venue changed to DKPA1 &A2. For my beloved committee members, please spend out these 2 days to give a hand on the event. I noticed some of you will be having your APK exhibitions. Anyway, leave at least 1 day for the competition, ok? JUST 2 DAYS.

T-shirt design
I have designed a T-shirt for you all. I still haven't checked the price yet. Boy and gals look at the design first. Give comment ya!



If it is enough budget, it may be free or you all just need pay a little for the T-shirt. How about we sell the t-shirt to participants?

Chess Set & Chess Clock
We still manage the chess set & chess clock. We need almost 50 sets for the competition. However, unit sukan not yet give us reply on the amount chess set that they having. Yayasan Sabah only has 10 set of chess set & clock. Anyway, we still have a choice to rent 30 sets chess set & clocks from Persatuan Catur Sabah but have to pay an amount of fee.

Poster
Our poster still not out yet. Yen Mei is working out on it. So I believed that this week we can confirm our poster design and print out next week. The poster will be sent to all the secondary school around KK area and will be posted on UMS after the raya break. I worry someone will spoil the poster during the raya break.

Roadshow in UMS
We will have a simple roadshow in library foyer on 4-8 October 2010 in order to ease the UMS student to register. For all our committee members, please spend a little time in the booth. Thank for your cooperation.

Is the comment time! Please give me some comment about the progress in any language BM,BI,CHINESE as long not Tamil ( I dunno how to read). Thank a lot! AND SELAMAT HARI RAYA for everyone. Happy holiday!

Guys, there is a month left for us to prepare our competition. I aplogize for assigning heavy load jobs for you all. You may complain or even shoutout to me. I really appreciate you all contribute a truth heart to the activity. For the last meeting, we already made our decision to continue the activity although we left few people who active in current preparation.

I would like to post the information about the previous year open competition
Registration fee: RM30 (outsiders) RM25 (UMS)
Prize: 1st RM800 2nd RM500 3rd RM400 4th RM300 5th RM200 6&7th RM100 8,9&10th RM50 best UMS RM50
TOTAL PRIZE GIVING: RM2600
Participants number: approximately 50 persons (2 UMS, others outsiders)

Funds required = prize - registraton fee = 2600-1500 = RM1100
Other expenses : Chess rental & arbiter (RM200), printing, food for AJK
This is the info given by the previous year competition director. This is a totally a good news. We actually have enough budget for our activity.

Another news for you all is our registration will officially start on next week. Registration will be done via handphone contact and website (the very first time). Kindly visit http://umsvccup.blogspot.com/ and give comment. So I finalized the detail of our competition

Problem
We are facing the problem of short of time. Actually we left 2 week for everything. During the holiday we will be not able to approach officer from any department. I understand that we all have midterm test and assignment for these 2 weeks. If you cant manage your time, please tell me so that I can handle it by myself.

9/8/2010 --> 15/8/2010

We had our meeting on 12/8/2010. Only 6 person including me attended the meeting. The meeting has carried out some discussions and several outcomes. Below is the report of the meeting:

Committee Members Regroup
I lost almost half of the committee members in this semester. I think that some of u might wan to quit this program. This week I will approach 1 by 1 whether u all still wan continue to fulfil ur responsibility. Personally I think that everyone should responsible to themselves. NO offensive here.

Meeting Time
I knew that attending the meeting especially purposely attend the meeting(not after class) is a hard and unwilling stuff. I understand you all situation. So after discussion, we proposed the meeting will on monday 4pm or thursday 4pm. I will let u all vote. Meeting will be short as poosible because I know malays are fasting now.

Venue & Chess Equipments
We only get approved to use half of the SKTM foyer. We felt that not enough spaces for our program. So Technical will apply for 3 BT rooms. They also work out on borrowing the chess set & chess clock from Unit sukan. Hope can be settled on next week! Gambateh..thanks

Publicity
We have came out a plan on how to promote the competition among the UMS students. We will have a promotion for the first 50 UMS students registration to pay their registration fee as low as RM5. For outsider, we will charge RM25 for the adult and RM20/RM15 for the students. Instead of that, we managed to get a cheap printing poster price from Yen Mei..thanks for that

Sponsorship
Izan din attend the meeting...so we still have no outcomes from that..what have been done for this week??? will contact her

I started to feel tension for the activity as we only left 1 and a half month to prepare the competition. So I will start to push a bit. I believe you all can make it!

26/7/2010 --> 1/8/2010

Well, I noticed that I lost some of committee members from my last meeting. I think it should not happen since the first day of meeting I already mentioned not to quit in half way. OK, agenda for the last meeting (for those who haven't gave up the program but could not attend the meeting, THANKS:)

Sponsorship
Two of our sponsorship requests have been rejected : Brands and tunehotel. Currently, we left Nestle. Norizan and her group try their best to approach other tunnels such as donation from Datuk and look for other company as well. Instead of that, we switch our focus into university support: Tamu gadang, PMUMS.... Prize will be reduced to cash prize + hamper if we failed to collect funds.

Technical
We haven't confirmed the venue. Lee Sue and Lee Yu are still following up. Others is working out on borrowing chess set and chess clocks from Yayasan Sabah and Unit Sukan UMS. Hope to have feedbacks next week.

Publicity
Planning on roadshow that last for 1 week

Urusetia
People from the unit seem to be disappear. Please attend the meeting next week PLEASE

NEWS: 18/7/2010 -> 25/7/2010

We have our first meeting for new semester on last tuesday. Welcome back to UMS all our committee members. However, the response of meeting not quite good due to the clash time with your class. In our last meeting, we discussed about our activity progression. So far, we only achieved not really 20% for the whole program. I hope you can spend more effort in your own post as our activity left 2 month for preparation. Here is some agenda for our last meeting:

MEETING TIME
We are looking for a suitable meeting time for our committee members. Since the largest population in our committee members is came from Forestry school, we cannot make it on tuesday. How about thursday nitez? This week meeting will be on thursday. Please attend the meeting.

SPONSORSHIP
So far, we have made 2 sponsorship request to big company such as brand's and Nestle. We do not have any feedbacks from them. Norizan is working out on it. However, if we failed to get any sponsorship from outside, we have to reduce our competition scope including invite "oversea" participants and prizes. Anyway, YAN YING has been elected as the new treasurer to overlook our finacial part. Congratulations.

VENUE APPLICATION
We have failed to apply DKP A1 & A2 as our competition venue because of booking by other parties for whole month weekend. LEE YU and LEE SUE are working out on applying SKTM foyer.

For your information, we will start doing any promotion on activity on 1 Sept 2010. We hope that we can make it successfully. This could be my last activity in UMS as my study is getting heavy and heavy. I know you all have the same situation with me but I'm being responsible for myself, you all and the activity. So, I have to fight to the end. Hope you all are with me, thanks!
